Drag Queen (Queen)

Often exaggerating gender roles for the purpose of entertainment, many drag queens do an amiable job of presenting as women. Because drag queens are usually gay men most only dress while on stage. However, some drag queens will go as far as to get breast implants and facial feminizing surgeries to enhance their stage personna. A very few do live fulltime as women.

The following is a performance by Miss Gay Sacramento Jimi and drag mother Brenda for Trio, a Miss Gay Sacramento benefit for CARES in 1990. Drag shows are fun to attend and most of the performers do a top-notch job. In San Diego, a good place to catch drag shows is at Lips, a restaurant on El Cajon Boulevard in North Park.

Some acts are more flamboyant. The following features drag queens Courtney Act, Vanity Faire and Decoda Secret plus Wil Sabin and Daniel G. They are Australian performers and do a magnificent, wonderful job.
